New York City school supplies will go on sale next month, with all school supplies and school uniforms slated to be available on the school supply website.
As school starts on April 19, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the state will offer school supplies at the school vending machines and other locations that already sell the products.
In order to ensure that the state can provide enough school supplies for its students, schools across the state are required to have school supplies in stock and be prepared to meet demand, Cuomo said in a statement.
“The Governor has been a champion for the quality of education, and this is a key component in that fight,” he said.
New York City schools are facing shortages of supplies for the first time since the district opened in 2011.
Last year, the district had to order an extra 1,500,000 school supplies due to the high demand.
The district also said it is planning to start accepting school supplies from its own vendors in the coming weeks.
